Mentos and Diet Coke

Lexi is 'scientist of the week' this week in her 4th grade class. On Friday, with her lab coat and goggles, she has to demonstrate an experiment in front of the class. She wanted to find something both fun, and cool....soooo we decided on the 'mentos and diet coke' experiment! We practiced OUTSIDE today!

You captured the event wonderfully! We did that last year outside too... couldn't believe how high it got - but we dropped in more than one using a cool gadget I found at a teacher ed store. You stack them in and then there is a string you pull to drop them in.

Aww...thank you, I'll have to look into that...wondering if our 'Learning Express' would have that?
And she undertands why it happens, but we're having trouble putting it into 4th grade termonology, any ideas?
